Lucerne

My time in the Lucerne Swiss Alps was short, but worth every minute. I took a double decker cable car up to the top of Stanserhorn mountain. As you'll see below, we went above the cloud line and had the clearest views of Europe throughout the entire trip. Visibility must have been at least 10 miles.

The cable car.

Beginning the ascent.

A little less than half way up.

Breaking through the cloud line.

The cable pulley system at the top of the mountain. The cable car is engineered brilliantly. The ride was very smooth and it had what I can only assume were inertial dampeners that kept the car level and worked against any swaying from wind or when we went over intermediate trusts.

The reward.

Awesome is an understatement.

In the evening, a group of us went to try the local cuisine "rouschty" (sp?). It was pie-like in shape and had a base layer of hash browns and cheese. For mine, I got a fried egg and ham on top. I love breakfast and this dish did not disappoint.

Now we're headed to Paris to conclude the blitz tour.
